At the end of the course the student has some theoretical, methodological and technical instruments required for: a) a critical comprehension of the foundational elements of the psychological and clinical intervention; b) a basic psychodiagnostic assessment; c) an analysis of their training demand.
Course Prerequisites
No specific knowledge is required.
Teaching Methods
The course consists of lectures alternating with diagnostic exercises carried out individually or in small groups.
Assessment Methods
The assessment of the objectives achievement is conducted through a written test of an hour and a half, structured in two parts: the first one consists of 3 open-ended questions, each rated up to 5 points, concerning the basic theoretical knowledge acquired on the diagnostic process and testing; the second one, rated up to 16 points, consists of the analysis of a clinical case report according to the categories of the theory of analysis of the demand.
Contents
Nature and functions of the psychological diagnosis; distinction between theory, technique and method of the psychological intervention; theory, method and technique of the analysis of the demand; potentialities, limitations, application contexts, and aims of some diagnostic procedures (OPD, PDM, SWAP, CCRT, DMRS); relationship between diagnosis and clinical intervention.
Given the technical and professionalizing nature of the course, only students enrolled in a Degree Course in Psychology can attend and take the exam, as indicated in the Deontological Code of Italian Psychologists (Article 21).
In order to foster an experiential and not only theoretical learning, it is highly recommended to attend lessons, although it is not mandatory and necessary for passing the exam.
Non-Italian-speaking and non-attending students may contact the instructor to discuss activities and strategies to support learning.
