The course aims at the knowledge of the problems characterizing philosophical thought from Humanism to the Enlightenment. At the end of the course the student will have acquired: ability to consider the philosophical themes of modernity in relation to the theoretical needs of our time; adequate historical perspective capable of offering significant elements of contextualization and understanding; mastery of philosophical and historical terminology and methods; ability to critically analyze texts, in particular philosophical, but also historiographical, including competence in the use of bibliographic tools.
It is not necessary to have prerequisites for admission.
Lectures.
Individual and planned analyses of primary bibliography texts.
Exam will be in oral form on the whole program. The dialogue will be constructive of knowledge, which will be an example about what is the collective construction of knowledge.
The evaluation will be expressed in thirties.
The course will be devoted to highlighting, from Humanism to the Enlightenment, the relations between philosophy and science; the relations between philosophy and religion; and the relations between politics and ethics. Special attention will be paid to the genesis and establishment of Enlightenment ideas and the fulfillment of the great project of the “Encyclopédie ou Dictionnaire raisonné des sciences, des arts et des métiers.”
Attendance in the course is recommended.
There is no difference in the syllabus between attending and non-attending students.
