At the end of the course, the student will have a basic knowledge of the main themes of social psychology (see course contents).
He/she will also be able to connect theoretical content, tools, and methodologies to experiences taken from everyday life.
He/she will know and be able to critically discuss the main application areas of social psychology, paying attention to the cultural, affective and cognitive processes involved in social action, of the individual, of the group and of the community.
The main objective is to develop critical knowledge of the "ways" of functioning of the individual in society.
The problems related to the interaction of couples and the peculiarities of the "natural" family group will be further explored. *The psychological-social, individual and group processes that influence the functioning of class groups and school organisations and intercultural relations will be analysed.
To develop social skills, students must demonstrate mastery of:
The issues related to the management of group dynamics and interpersonal and intergroup conflicts,
the knowledge of the influences of attitudes and prejudices,
The importance of intercultural relations in social life.
No one
Lectures, discussions and exercises. The lectures aim to provide an appropriate framework of the theoretical and cognitive foundations of the discipline. The discussions in the classroom on the main topics covered will aim to facilitate the educational exchange the commitment, and strengthening of critical and reflective skills. The exercises, conducted also, where possible, with the presence of external experts, will aim to illustrate and evaluate concrete examples of the design of social interventions.
Psychological processes of social interaction (perception, categorisation, evaluation, etc.). Tools and methods of psychosocial knowledge. The main themes of psychosocial investigation: attitudes, relational processes, conformism, social representations, etc. The peculiarities of the areas of social interaction: couple, group, and collective. Prejudice, conflict and reconciliation. The course will propose the analysis of "exemplary" themes that have marked the path of social psychology, and finally, the main fields of application of social psychology will be examined and critically discussed.
This year, the course will delve into the socio-cognitive, historical-social, symbolic and psycho-political themes associated with the processes of psycho-socio-cultural change. In the second part of the course, the psychic phenomena underlying the formation of movements and their institutionalisation will be explored.
FOR ALL STUDENTS. The slides of the lessons will be available in the e-learning space.
FOR NON-ATTENDING WORKING STUDENTS. The exam can be taken normally by studying the books and chapters indicated in the program. For any clarification, you can come to the teacher's office (see calendar), also by arrange an ad hoc appointment via e-mail.
FOR ERASMUS STUDENTS. The written exam can be taken in Italian, English, Spanish or French. They will also be given more time to complete the test, and the use of the Italian dictionary.
If the teaching is taught in mixed mode or remotely, changes may be introduced to what is stated in the syllabus to make the course and exams usable in these ways.
