Course Objectives

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING

The student, at the end of the module, knows the different contexts linking the bodily practices and sport with the children's rights (safeguarding actions introduced by the so-called Sport reform) and the social intervention; he/she is aware of the relevance and the extent of the applicative fields of the social dimension of sport and, broadly, of the human movement.

The student can find the way among the diverse strategies of intervention through a guided self-reflection aimed to choose methods, didactics, and communication strategies related to the situation.

The student, especially, knows planning strategies, teaching styles and methods of assessing the activities.

COMPETENCES

At the end of the Module, even through practices and observations, the student achieves the competences both in terms of safeguards and of groups management, and in the proposal of the more suitable activities for the groups or individuals.

Moreover, he/she understand the relevance of the interdisciplinary group work fundamental in the social actions.

Course Prerequisites

Preferably, to have attended the course Theories, methods, and didactics of human movement across the lifespan (158001) delivered at the I year of the Human Movement and Sport Sciences Degree Course

Teaching Methods

In the first part, the teaching activity is proposed through lectures including requests specifically formulated to enhance thoughtful processes.

The second part is planned for an active participation of the students through guided discussion, working groups, meetings, workshop experiences at educational and social organizations.

Assessment Methods

The final exam is based on

- an oral test

- the evaluation of the experience portfolio or observation grids.

- the possible presentation of group works.

For students attending the classes, ongoing tests could be organized.

Contents

The course focuses on two aspects:

- the rights of children in sport, also in the light of the legislative measures relating to their safeguarding in the field of sport;

- the sport, physical, and bodily practices in the social intervention, even linked with interdisciplinar and intersectorial inteventions, and how they can represent a valid contribution to socioeducational actions aimed at frail children and adolescents living in educational poverty. “Tough” boys and girls needing a guiding social context.

The course is organized in two parts.

The first, even referring to the 1st year course of Theories, introduces the frame of the interdisciplinary scientific literature.

The second presents recent projects and, through key informants, organizational, methodological, and didactics examples.

Whenever possible, visit at the educational and sport centers will be organized.
