Assessment for Attending Students

The DEI section's score is determined by team assignments (up to 30 points) and the final exam (up to 20 points). Scores for the Creativity/Creativity Management and Responsible Leadership sections are based on individual class participation (up to 5 points) and team assignments (up to 20 points). This 100-point score will be converted into a grade on the Italian 30-point scale. A minimum of 60 points is required to pass. Students also need to achieve: At least 20 out of 30 points in the DEI team assignment part; 12 out of 20 points in the DEI final exam; 15 out of 25 points in each of the other two sections (Creativity and Responsible Leadership). Students wishing to be considered "attending students" must be present at the first lesson. After this initial lesson, students will be divided into groups. Once you opt to be an attending student, regular attendance becomes mandatory; unexcused absences will affect both your final grade and your status as an attending student. To qualify as attending students, students must attend at least 80% of the classes in the DEI section and 100% of the classes in the other two sections (Creativity and Responsible Leadership). The final individual examination will take place during one of the final classes. Students may resit the individual examination and, if necessary, retake no more than one of the in-class exercises completed as part of the DEI component during the January 2027 examination session. Students may be asked to purchase some teaching cases individually or in teams.

Assessment for Non-Attending Students

Non-attending students will be evaluated via a final written exam. This exam will be held at the end of the course during the regular exam sessions (January/February, June, July, and September). It will last 50/60 minutes and consist of three open questions. Each open question is worth a maximum of 11 points.

The exam's primary purpose is to evaluate students' intellectual maturity and comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. Answers to the open questions will be evaluated based on: Relevance to the question; Consistency with the content covered in the prescribed textbook,Comprehensiveness in addressing the question; Inclusion of appropriate connections; Conciseness (avoiding redundancy or repetition); Command of language; Clarity of presentation. The final grade will be the sum of the scores obtained from the three open questions. To pass the exam, each of the three questions must receive a minimum score of 6.

Note for attending and non-attending students

During any assessed activity, students must not have any internet-connected digital devices in their possession (computers, smartphones, smart glasses, earbuds, and smartwatches). The instructor reserves the right to require an additional oral examination, including after the written assessment, if deemed necessary to verify the student's effective acquisition of the knowledge and skills defined in the course learning outcomes and to ensure the fair and accurate awarding of the final grade.

This syllabus is valid for all students taking the exam in the academic year 2026-2027, specifically in January 2027, February 2027, June 2027, July 2027, and September 2027.

Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs)

  • Students with Specific Learning Disorders (SLDs) or temporary or permanent disabilities are encouraged to contact the relevant University support service and the course instructor at the beginning of the course, in order to identify the most appropriate strategies to support their learning. Furthermore, students with SLDs are strongly encouraged to attend classes regularly. Requests for reasonable adjustments submitted after the end of the teaching period will not be considered.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)

  • Knowing where to find information is not the same as knowing it. Simply being directed to information does not create the neural connections that underpin understanding and insight. Artificial intelligence adds a new dimension to this challenge. Recent research shows that students who use ChatGPT to write essays often produce higher-quality assignments but learn less in the process. Researchers describe this phenomenon as metacognitive laziness: students allow artificial intelligence to do the thinking while their own neural pathways remain underdeveloped, taking shortcuts that may appear productive but ultimately weaken their cognitive architecture (Oakley, La Repubblica, 15 February 2026). For these reasons, artificial intelligence (AI) is not used in any aspect of this course, including the preparation of teaching materials and the design, marking, and assessment of examinations. Students are also strongly discouraged from using AI in connection with any course-related activities.
