Verifica Apprendimento

Assessment for the course Natural Heritage and Tourism Sustainability is divided into two parts, corresponding to the two course modules.

First module (12 hours)

  • Attending students (students attending at least 9 of the 12 scheduled hours): students are required to complete a series of short written assignments during the lectures. Successful completion of all assignments with a positive evaluation exempts students from the written examination for this module.
  • Non-attending students: written examination covering the contents of the first module.

Second module (24 hours)

  • Attending students: students are required to complete a series of individual or group assignments throughout the course, based on the topics discussed in class and the required readings. Successful completion of all assignments with a positive evaluation exempts students from the written examination for this module.
  • Non-attending students: written examination covering the contents of the second module.

The final grade of the examination is calculated as the weighted mean of the two modules (module 1: 1/3; module 2: 2/3).

The exam aims at verifying: the level of knowledge achieved by the student; his/her skills in critical understanding and reasoning; his/her skill in composing a well-structured text. Evaluation criteria include: relevance and completeness, clarity, original thinking, mastery of language and disciplinary lexicon.

Contenuti

The course is organized in two sections.

Section 1 introduces qualitative methods in social research, with particular attention to their application in tourism studies. Drawing on historical examples and selected case studies, the module explores the theoretical foundations and practical use of ethnographic and netnographic methodologies.

Section 2 deals with the interplay between visual anthropology and tourism, with a focus on the production of digital visual contents in multiple tourism contexts (Norway, India, Italy). The course discusses the relation between formal and informally produced digital visual narratives.

Risorse Online

  • Materiali didattici online (e-learning)
  • Leganto - Testi d'esame

Altre informazioni

The course will take place in the 4th subterm.

The required readings and study materials for the examination vary according to students’ attendance status (attending or non-attending).

Following the written assessment, the instructor may require an additional oral examination, where deemed necessary, to verify the achievement of the course learning outcomes and to ensure the accurate assessment of student performance.
