Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course aims to ensure that students:

- learn the fundamental concepts, the main theories and the state of the art of what is relevant to the course;

- are able to rework, through individual study and with the help of texts, the topics covered in the lessons;

- develop adequate analysis and argumentation skills;

- know how to use appropriate language in the presentation of problems and in their discussion;

- acquire awareness of the philosophical dimension of the issues covered in the course.

Assessment Methods

The exam at the end of the course will take place in oral form and the evaluation will be expressed out of thirty. The interrogation will be structured in three questions concerning the entire program in order to verify the students' acquisition of the notions imparted within the course. Upon prior agreement, for attending students, the possibility of a written test, with a possible supplementary oral exam, may be considered.


Contents

The module will focus on the relationships between ethics, law and the market, with particular attention to the differences.

Specifically, issues such as:

the difference between market economy and market society will be addressed;

the space for the market and for the autonomy of the contractors in public choices;

the existence of spheres removed or to be removed from money;

the function and limits of economic incentives;

the moral limits to the market.
