abstract:
The precocious discovery and the resulting promotion of the calling to teach represent, nowadays, a decisive challenge in the debate concerning the degrees in secondary teacher education, which is strictly connected to the issue of the initial teacher education and the profile of the qualified teacher’s personal and professional competences. The possibility to retrace, in a historical plan, the biographies of some famous teachers of the past could offer a heuristic perspective of studying and relaunching this theme, according to some pedagogical goals, fundamental for a good teacher education, to enhance the richness of a pedagogical reflection about educational and didactics practices.
