Abstract:
The aim of our contribution is twofold. First, we aim to distinguish between verbs that acquire the value of terms and verbs that acquire the value of « collateral technicalisms » according to Serianni’s definition. Our hypothesis is that specialised verbs are predicative verbs while collateral technicalisms are « light verbs ». Second, we want to highlight the differences between « light verbs » and verbs that perform the function of « collateral technicalisms ». We are also going to
assess, in a comparative perspective in French and Italian, the spread of collateral technicalisms » in a field with a strong accounting component, such as financial reports, in order to check whether this field, like medicine and law, should be considered a field with a « marked intellectual character » as defined by Serianni.
