She is a fixed-term Type B Research Fellow (RTD-B) in the Department of Literature, Philosophy and Communication at the University of Bergamo, where she teaches Italian Language, Digital Linguistics, and Linguistics for the Enhancement of Written and Oral Heritage. She trained at the University of Bergamo and earned a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Pavia. Her research lies in the field of historical socio-pragmatics of Italian, with a particular focus on the evolution of speech acts (e.g. apologies and thanks), politeness and forms of address, as well as discourse and pragmatic markers. She also works in sociolinguistics, investigating the relationship between sociolinguistic variation and pragmatic change, and the links between (social) indexicality and language change. Her interests also include corpus linguistics, annotation and standards (e.g. TEI), text mining, and the digital humanities. She has contributed to the creation and annotation of diachronic corpora of Italian (including LISCort-ITA) and has taken part in national and international research projects.
