I graduated in Classical Literature from the University of Pavia in 1982 and obtained a PhD in Linguistics in 1988.
At the University of Bergamo: Director of the Centre for Italian for Foreigners (since 1990); Coordinator of the Degree Course in Public and Institutional Mass Communication (2003–2009); Member of the Academic Senate (1993–1999) and the Board of Directors (1998–1999 and 2002–2005). Vice-Rector for University Orientation (2009–2015); Member of the Quality Assurance Committee (2012–2015); and Deputy Director of the Department of Languages, Foreign Literatures and Communication (2012–2015).
Member of the Evaluation Committee of the University of Cagliari (October 2015-2021).
ANVUR evaluator, with experience in the VQR 2004–2010, and as a disciplinary and system expert in the AVA 2014–2024, for initial and periodic accreditation of BA, MA and universities.
My research interests are pragmatics, historical pragmatics, historical linguistics, particularly morphosyntax and pragmatics of Latin and Romance languages.

Chair of Société Internationale pour l'Etude du Latin Vulgaire et Tardif (2012–2014) and current member of its Steering Committee
