Fabio Scotto (La Spezia, 1959) is full professor of French Literature at the University of Bergamo (Department of Foreign Languages, Literatures and Cultures) where he is Director of CISAM (International Center for Studies on the Avant-garde and Modernity) and member of the Teaching Board of the PhD in "Humanistic and Transcultural Studies". He directs the “Essays CISAM” series (Cisalpino-Monduzzi), coordinates, with S. Genetti, the Twentieth Century – XXI Century Bibliographical Review of the periodical “Studi Francesi” and is Editor for French Studies of the magazine “InScriptum. A Journal of Language and Literary Studies”. In 2024 he was elected resident corresponding member of the Istituto Lombardo Accademia di Scienze e Lettere in Milan.
He is the author of studies on the eighteenth-century French novel, on modern and contemporary poetry, on the poetics of short forms and on the theory and practice of literary translation, including Bernard Noël: le corps du verbe (ENS Éditions 2008), La voce spezzata. Il frammento poetico nella modernità francese (Donzelli 2012), Il senso del suono. Traduzione poetica e ritmo (Donzelli 2013), Le corps écrivant. Saggi sulla poesia francese contemporanea da Valéry a oggi (Rosenberg & Sellier 2019). He has edited and translated numerous works by Yves Bonnefoy, including Meridiano L'opera poetica (Mondadori 2010), the collections L'ora presente (Mondadori 2013), Nell'inganno della soglia (Il Saggiatore 2021), Insieme ancora (Il Saggiatore 2023) and the autobiographical novel La Sciarpa Rossa (La nave di Teseo 2021), as well as the anthology Nuovi poeti francesi (Einaudi 2011) and texts by Vigny, Hugo, Villiers de l'Isle-Adam, Apollinaire, Éluard, Noël, Brossard and various other authors. For the translation, he received the 'Civitanova Poesia, sez. Annibal Caro 1998', 'Achille Marazza 2004', “Benno Geiger 2021” Prizes. He has published thirteen poetic collections and his texts have been translated into various languages.
