Curriculum Vitae

Marta Benenti is a researcher and lecturer in aesthetics and philosophy of mind. She was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow (2023–2025) at the Department of Philosophy of the University of Murcia, where she served as Principal Investigator of the project LEAP – Learning to Appreciate Aesthetic Values, devoted to aesthetic learning. She is currently a lecturer in Philosophy of the Cognitive Sciences at the University of Bergamo.

Previously, she was a postdoctoral research fellow (RTD-A) at the University of Eastern Piedmont (2022–2023), with a project on the persuasive power of climate change narratives, and held postdoctoral positions in philosophy of mind at Università Vita-Salute San Raffaele and at the University of Turin. She has also carried out research periods as a postdoctoral fellow at Columbia University (Italian Academy for Advanced Studies in America) and at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin (Berlin School of Mind and Brain).

She received her PhD in Philosophy from the University of Turin (FINO Consortium), with a dissertation on the experience of expressiveness. She holds the Italian National Scientific Qualification (Abilitazione Scientifica Nazionale) for the sector 11/C4 (Aesthetics and Philosophy of Language).

She is the author of the monograph Expressiveness. Perception and Emotions in the Experience of Expressive Objects (De Gruyter, 2020) and of numerous articles published in Italian and international journals, including Topoi, Rivista Italiana di Filosofia del Linguaggio, and the Journal of Philosophy of Emotion. She has edited special issues of academic journals and contributed to edited volumes on aesthetics, perceptual learning, art criticism, and the philosophy of literature.

She teaches courses in aesthetics and philosophy of mind, and is actively involved in national and international research projects, as well as in peer review and public dissemination activities.
