Giancarlo Fedeli, Ph.D., is an Associate professor in the Department of Business Management Sciences at the University of Bergamo. With a multidisciplinary background in business management, marketing, and tourism, he offers an international perspective.
Credentials:
- Doctorate of Philosophy in Marketing; PgC in Research Methods, Glasgow Caledonian University, UK;
- Master's Degree in Tourism Destination Management, NHTV University of Breda, The Netherlands;
- Bachelor in Business Economics (Honors), University of Bologna, Italy.
Research:
Dr. Fedeli´s research focuses on the use and impact of technology, user experience, digital marketing, and online social interactions in the service industries, addressing topics such as misinformation. His research featured in top-tier journals including Annals of Tourism Research (single authorship), Journal of Travel Research, Tourism Management Perspectives, Current Issues in Tourism, Annals of Tourism Research Empirical Insights, and Journal of Hospitality and Tourism Management. He regularly presents his work at international conferences, acts as a reviewer for several journals, as well as a panelist and moderator and as a board member of scientific committees. Dr. Fedeli has facilitated numerous workshops and delivered classes across Europe, USA, Asia, Africa, and Australia.
Professional Activities:
Dr. Fedeli has secured research grants and led over 50 projects internationally for an aggregate value of over €2.5 million for public, private, and non-profit organizations including the European Union, UK, Japanese, and Austrian governments, UNESCO, VisitScotland, V&A Museum, Mercedes-Benz, and Jacobs Engineering. Through industry consultation and review of international best practices, his research has produced practical outcomes for industry and stakeholders. His projects span from visitor statistics, tourism marketing, and destination development to impact studies, as well as training & education.
