Course Objectives
- Disciplinary Objectives: The Official Course aims to provide theoretical and practical knowledge of syntax, vocabulary and phraseology fundamental to reading, comprehension and translation from Arabic to Italian and vice versa. It also aims to develop skills in the linguistic analysis of texts.
- Instrumental Objectives: Language Learning Activities aim to develop skills in oral and written expression and translation from Italian to Arabic (AAL 3 Speaking skills and AAL 3 Written skills); it is also the objective of the course to introduce in a practical way basic conversation in Egyptian dialect.
Through reading, listening and comprehension of texts (written and oral) devoted to relevant political issues in the Arab area, it is also intended to provide students with the necessary tools for understanding the socio-political and economic contexts which the language they are studying is part of. Specifically, during the Official course and Language Acquisition Activities (AAL), a number of themes will be addressed that refer back to the UN's 2030 Agenda: Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
Course Prerequisites
Knowledge of the grammatical topics indicated in the contents of Arabic Language II course.

The examination consists of:

Parts (a) and (b) of the written test refer to the contents of the Official Course and parts c) and d) refer to the contents of the AAL 3 Written skills.
- Oral test of language theory and practice, which consists of: a) theoretical questions on morpho-syntactic, lexical and phraseological aspects (related to the texts considered during the Official Course); b) language interview during which students must demonstrate their ability in reading and comprehend a text (related to the texts considered during the Official course), to express themselves correctly both in Modern Standard Arabic (related to the topics covered during AAL 3 Oral Skills) and in Egyptian Arabic (related to the topics covered during AAL 3 Egyptian dialect).
The final mark is calculated by averaging the assessments of the written and oral tests. For a detailed description of the exams (types of grammar exercises, texts to be translated, and specific topics on which to have proficiency to pass the written and oral tests), refer to the e-learning platform Moodle of the official course. Please, refer to Moodle platform and Leganto - Testi d'esame to know the titles of readings to be done.
The written test is preparatory to the oral test and its validity is 18 months. Students are notified of their written test results via Moodle (students can accept or reject the grade and take the test again), while the final grade of the exam is published in Esse3 according to the mode which allows students to accept or reject the grade and try again the oral test.
