Overview

Date/time interval

Secondo Semestre (23/02/2026 - 06/06/2026)

Syllabus

Course Objectives

The course deals with issues related to the materials used in new production technologies and the effects they have on their properties. Describes the main materials used today in these applications, to provide useful knowledge in the design, choice of materials, implementation and performance verification according to the latest regulations. With particular reference to the metallic materials, the phenomena induced by the production technologies that alter the microstructure are treated, conferring peculiar characteristics that modify the mechanical and operating behavior compared to the materials produced with traditional cycles. The main surface and thermal treatments adopted after the production process are identified.

Course Prerequisites

Fundamentals of Science and Technologies of Metallic Materials

Teaching Methods

Lectures with slide projection and case studies.

Assessment Methods

Oral examination concerning the topics covered during the lectures. Discussion of results obtained during the laboratory activities – presented by students in form of report - will be done at the beginning of the oral examination. The discussion will cover aspects related to the mechanical characterization or the durability assessment materials
