Curriculum Vitae
Victoria Bogushevskaya holds a double degree in Modern Chinese Language and Literature and in Chinese Philology from the Beijing Language and Culture University and the Far Eastern State University of Vladivostok; her thesis in China was written and defended entirely in Chinese. She subsequently earned a PhD in Chinese Linguistics (specialisation 10.02.22) at the Institute of Asian and African Studies of M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, with a dissertation on the semantics of Chinese colour terms. She developed extensive experience in Beijing, weaving together professional interpreting and translation with research that deeply shaped her linguistic and cultural background.
She has been invited to give courses and lectures at the University of Zurich (2013), Ruhr‑Universität Bochum (2017), Sofia University (2018), and M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University (2018). She is also an Affiliated Scholar at the Laboratory of Experimental Phonetics, Department of Chinese Philology, Institute of Asian and African Studies, M.V. Lomonosov Moscow State University.
From 2010 to 2021 she held adjunct teaching positions at the University of Urbino “Carlo Bo” (2010–2012) and at the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (2011–2021). From 2021 to 2024 she served as Associate Professor of Chinese Language and Translation at the University of Salento. Since November 2024 she has been Associate Professor of Chinese Linguistics and Translation at the University of Bergamo.
Her research interests include the perception, lexicalisation and conceptualisation of colour in Chinese; Chinese proverbs and phrasal units and their interfaces with rhetoric, stylistics and media language; the acquisition of written and spoken Chinese and its neuro‑ and psycholinguistic dimensions; and specialised vocabulary and lexicology in contemporary Chinese. She coordinated the international project Thinking Colours: Perception, Translation and Representation and is a member of the Doctoral Board of the PhD programme in Languages, Literatures, Cultures and their Applications. She serves on the Executive Board (2024–2026) of the European Association for Chinese Studies.
