Curriculum Vitae
Francesco Finazzi is Full Professor of Statistics at the Department of Economics of the University of Bergamo and Research Affiliate at the School of Mathematics and Statistics of the University of Glasgow. He is the founder of the Earthquake Network citizen science initiative (www.sismo.app) which implements the first smartphone-based earthquake early warning system at the global level. He has been the PI for the University of Bergamo of the following H2020 projects:
2019 – 2023. “Real-time earthquake risk reduction for a ReSilient Europe” (RISE). Grant agreement 821115. Budget: €8.000.000.
2019 – 2022. “Towards more Earthquake-resilient Urban Societies through a Multi-sensor-based Information System enabling Earthquake Forecasting, Early Warning and Rapid Response actions” (TURNkey). Grant agreement 821046. Budget: €7.999.948.
His research interests include:
- The analysis of data from sensor networks
- The analysis of crowdsourced data from citizen science initiatives
- The statistical modelling and analysis of spatio-temporal data in general
- The development of scientific parallel software
