Curriculum Vitae
Raul Calzoni graduated in German Language and Literature at the University of Bergamo (2000) and he received his PhD in Linguistics, Compared and Modern Literatures from the University of Verona (2005). Between 2007 and 2014 he was Assistant Professor with tenure track of German Studies (“German Literature” and “German Culture”) at the University of Bergamo, where he also taught “Didactic of Literature” and “Textual Analysis”. Between 2014 and 2021 he was Associate Professor of "German Literature", "Intercultural Literature" and "Comparative Literature" at the University of Bergamo. Since June 2021 he is Full Professor of ”German Literature" at the University of Bergamo. His research areas include German romantic age (Friedrich Schiller, Novalis), 20th century German literature with a particular interest in a) narrative representations of Berlin (Walter Benjamin, Ernst Bloch, Alfred Döblin); b) strategies of recollection of the past and transmission of cultural memory in contemporary German and Austrian literature (Elfriede Jelinek, Günter de Bruyn); c) the relation between witness, memory and history in the literature of World War II (Gerhard Roth, Walter Kempowski, W.G. Sebald,); d) literary criticism and memory studies. He is member of the European Research Thematic Network "Acume2 - European Thematic Network under The Socrates Programme on Interfacing Science, Literature and the Humanities" and of the bilateral German-Italian Research Group on the topic "1945-1961. Kultur im Wiederaufbau / Wiederaufbau der Kultur in fiktionaler Literatur, Sachbuch und Film" granted as “Vigoni Programme” by MIUR (Italian Ministry of Research), Ateneo Italo-Tedesco of Trento and Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst (DAAD). He is member of the „Kempowski Gesellschaft' and ''A.I.G. – Italian German Studies Association”.
