Curriculum Vitae
Valerio Re received the M.Sc. degree in Physics (Summa cum Laude) from the University of Milano in 1985. In 1990 he received the Ph.D. degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Pavia. In 1992 he joined the Department of Electronics at the University of Pavia as an Assistant Professor. From 1998 to 2006 he was an associate professor of Electronic Instrumentation at the University of Bergamo. Since 2006 he is a full professor of Electronics at the Department of Engineering and Applied Sciences of the University of Bergamo. His research interests are in the fields of analog front-end circuits for radiation detectors, and of the study of noise and radiation effects in electronic devices. He is presently focusing on nanoscale CMOS technologies for the design of integrated circuits for the readout of semiconductor sensors. He has been the Principal Investigator of research programs funded by the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN). From 2009 to 2013, he was the P.I. of the INFN program VIPIX on pixel sensors in 3D integration technologies. From 2015 to 2020, he was co-coordinator of WP4 (Microelectronics and interconnections) in the AIDA-2020 project, funded by the European program Horizon-2020. This project supported networking activities on microelectronic processes, focusing on 65 nm CMOS technology for the design of readout integrated circuits for pixel detectors at high energy physics experiments. From 2014 to 2017 he was the convener of the Analog Working Group of the CERN R&D project RD53, which developed new integrated circuits for the readout of pixel sensors at extreme data rates and radiation levels. He is collaborating with microelectronic industries and clinical research institutions at the design and test of wearable sensor systems for the wireless monitoring of environmental and physiological parameters. Valerio Re is author or coauthor of more than 450 papers on international scientific journals and conference proceedings.
