Curriculum Vitae
-Academic experience-
since 1/10/2021 associate professor
1/10/2018 - 30/09/2021 fixed-term researcher (type B)
1/10/2015 - 30/09/2018 fixed-term researcher (type A)
-Research activities-
The research focuses on advancing numerical methods for CFD with the primary objective of improving the accuracy and efficiency of simulation tools. The discontinuous Galerkin (dG) method is the core methodology, applied mainly for simulating turbulent flows. Within this scope, research activities are carried out mainly (but not exclusively) in the following areas:
i) development of adaptive techniques for the polynomial degree distribution over the mesh (p-adaptation) to reduce the cost of scale-resolving simulations;
ii) development of dG methods capable of discretizing the domain using arbitrarily shaped cells without compromising the accuracy of the scheme;
iii) development of multi-level (h-, p-multigrid) techniques to increase the efficiency of solvers;
iv) development of highly accurate methods for compressible flow problems that guarantee the physical evolution of entropy over time at the discrete level, i.e., "entropy-conserving/stable" methods;
v) application of the developed tools to Direct (DNS), Large Eddy (LES), hybrid RANS-LES, and RANS simulations for both canonical and industrial turbulent flows;
vi) extension of the current framework to operate beyond the ideal gas hypothesis.
-Involvement in research projects-
• “ROSAS: RObust simulation Systems exploiting Artificial Intelligence based turbulence models and high-fidelity algorithmS” 2025 - 2028
