Federica ORIGO (Ph.D. in Economics Università Cattolica di Milano, MSc in Economics, University of Texas at Austin USA) is full professor of Economics (since 2021) at the Department of Economics of the University of Bergamo, where she is also the delegate of the Rector for the relationships with upper secondary schools and for guidance of incoming and ongoing students (since 2021). She is also faculty member of the Master’s program in Economics and Data Analysis and of the PhD program in Economics.
She currently teaches labour economics (Bachelor), and personnel economics & HR analytics (Master). She is also member of the Centre for Young and Family Enterprise (CYFE) at the University of Bergamo and IZA Research Fellow.
Before joining the University of Bergamo, she worked as senior researcher and project coordinator at Istituto per la Ricerca Sociale (IRS), Milan, Department of Labour Economics and Industrial Relations, where she coordinated a number of national and international research projects.
RESEARCH AND PUBLICATIONS (summary)
She has more than 25 years of experience in applied research in labour economics, economics of education, gender differences and evaluation of public policies, both in national and international projects.
Some of her papers have been published in top journals in the fields of economics, such as: Journal of Human Resources, Industrial and Labour Relations Review, Labour Economics, Economics of Education Review and Regional Studies, International Journal of Drug Policy.
Her current research topics include: peer effects in education; gender differences in the labour market; firm’s adjustment to demand shocks and the economics of risky behaviors.
She is currently member of the PNRR-PE project GRINS (Growing Resilient, Inclusive and Sustainable) and local coordinator of a 2022 PRIN project on Vocational Education and Training in the post-Covid world: impact on individuals, firms and the society.
