RAO Riccardo

Riccardo Rao (Legnano 1976) is Full Professor (“professore ordinario”) at Bergamo University, where he teaches Medieval History, Landscape History and Animal History.
He has been Visiting Fellow at Harvard University (Spring 2019, February-May, at the History Department and Standing Committee on Medieval Studies) and Professeur Invité at the University of Angers (Fall 2014, October) and at the École Normale Supérieure de Lyon (April 2020). He is also Fellow (membre associé) of the CIHAM (CNRS – Université Lyon 2 – EHESS – ENS de Lyon – Université d’Avignon et des Pays de Vaucluse – Université Lyon 3).
Together with Fabio Saggioro he directs the “Storie di Paesaggi medievali” series. He has been member of the editorial boards of Reti Medievali (since 2009), Popolazione e Storia (since 2011), Mémoire des princes angevins (since 2016). Among his recent books, El tiempo de los lobos. Historia medioambiental y cultural de un animal fabuloso, Cadiz, 2021 (ed. Or. 2018) and I paesaggi dell’Italia medievale, Roma, 2015.
