RIZZI Egidio

Egidio RIZZI has been committed as professor of Mechanics of Solids and Structures at three Italian universities since 1995: Politecnico di Milano 1995-1998, Assist. Prof.; Politecnico di Bari - Faculty of Engineering at Taranto 1998-2001, Assoc. Prof.; Università di Bergamo, 2001-present, Assoc./Full Prof. He is currently appointed at UniBG, School of Engineering (Dalmine), as Full Prof. since 2006. He graduated cum Laude in Civil Engineering, at Politecnico di Milano in 1990. He later acquired a Master of Science in Civil Engineering (CU-Boulder, USA, 1993) and a Doctoral Degree in Structural Engineering (Politecnico di Milano, Italy, 1995). He has had several international collaborations and spent various periods abroad at different research institutions, first as a young research fellow and later as a visiting professor. Among them: JRC Ispra, CU Boulder, INPG Grenoble, UPC Barcelona, TU-BS Braunschweig. He has gained research expertise in Structural Engineering, specifically in the field of Mechanics of Solids and Structures. His research activities have been performed independently or as part of academic, industrial and international programs, on the themes of constitutive modelling of quasi-brittle materials, material and structural instability, damage, localization and failure, computational mechanics. Further current research themes much focused on the area of Structures are: biomechanical modelling of human cornea; structural analysis of historic constructions; statics of masonry arches; vibration control by Tuned Mass Dampers (TMDs); modal identification and Structural Health Monitoring, parameter identification of materials and structures by inverse analysis; analysis of tribology phenomena; modelling of elastoplastic solids at finite strains and high strain rates; dynamical problems with moving load. He is co-author of about 140 publications, about 70 of which on refereed international journals. He has served as a reviewer for 50 int. journals.
